Abstrak
The Ngaben ceremony is part of the Pitra Yadnya which is based on Pitra Rna (Debt of services to ancestors). Some Hindus carry out the cremation ceremony which is simpler, meaning that it is economical, easy, not too long, but still in the order of the cremation ceremony which does not eliminate the meaning of the pitra yadnya ceremony. Hindus in Basarang District carry out a simple ngeben ceremony, but many doubt the perfection of the simplification of the Ngaben ceremony. The shorter Ngaben ceremony is better. So it is necessary to further investigate its existence in the paradigm of Hindu teachings. This research consists of three stages, namely: (1) The form of the implementation of a simple cremation ceremony in the Hindu community in Basarang Jaya Village, (2) the response of the Hindu community to the implementation of the cremation ceremony, (3 ) Hindu educational values contained in the simple cremation ceremony. Data obtained from observations, interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques are data reduction, data presentation. The results of the analysis with descriptive research methods using a qualitative approach, namely the simple Ngaben ceremony procession can be understood through 3 stages, Body Care (bathing the corpse, ngaskare, delivering the corpse to the grave, matur piuning in prajapati, praying, ngeseng, nganyut), Preparation for the Ngeroras Ceremony (Mecaru, ngulapin, ngaskara and nganyut) and preparation for nuntun/teaching or nyegara gunung (ngulapin fresh, nuntun Dewa Hyang, praying in village temples and ngelinggihang Dewe Hyang in Kawitan or sanggah rong dua ). Simple, namely simple cremation can be well received in society. The existence of implementation efficiency, cost, time, facilities and more practical.
